And the Lord said to Moses: Say to the children of Israel: Thou are a stiffnecked people; once I shall come up in the midst of thee, and shall destroy thee. Now presently lay aside thy ornaments, that I may know what to do with thee.

4 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death : and the wise man will pacify it.

3 Thou shalt not pity him, and thou shalt take away the guilt of innocent blood out of Israel, that it may be well with thee.


Because thou art a holy people to the Lord thy God. The Lord thy God hath chosen thee, to be his peculiar people of all peoples that are upon the earth.


And Jacob came to Luza, which is in the land of Chanaan, surnamed Bethel: he and all the people that were with him.


5 And the Sabeans rushed in, and took all away, and slew the servants with the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell thee.


5 After him Johanan the captain, and with him two hundred and eighty thousand.


9 Every soul that shall commit any of these abominations, shall perish from the midst of his people.


4 Adore not any strange god. The Lord his name is Jealous, he is a jealous God.

I have lifted up my eyes to the mountains, from whence help shall come to me.


8 That day God made a covenant with Abram, saying: To thy seed will I give this land, from the river of Egypt even to the great river Euphrates.


Give orders therefore that thy servants cut me down cedar trees out of Libanus, and let my servants be with thy servants: and I will give thee the hire of thy servants whatsoever thou wilt ask, for thou knowest how there is not among my people a man that has skill to hew wood like to the Sidonians.
