2 That through them I may try Israel, whether they will keep the way of the Lord, and walk in it, as their fathers kept it, or not.


3 Wherefore, if meat scandalize my brother, I will never eat flesh, lest I should scandalize my brother.


5 And they were mingled among the heathens, and learned their works:


1 And after many evils and afflictions shall have come upon them, this canticle shall answer them for a testimony, which no oblivion shall take away out of the mouth of their seed. For I know their thoughts, and what they are about to de this day, before that I bring them into the land which I have promised them.


And when Phinees the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest saw it, he rose up from the midst; of the multitude, and taking a dagger,


But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.


Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to do this?


My defence with them that do examine me is this.


7 At that time Jerusalem shall be called the thrown of the Lord: and all the nations shall be gathered together to it, in the name of the Lord to Jerusalem, and they shall not walk after the perversity of their most wicked heart.


2 Therefore I have said to the children of Israel: No soul of you, nor of the strangers that sojourn among you, shall eat blood.


5 Make no covenant with the men of those countries lest, when they have committed fornication with their gods, and have adored their idols, some one call thee to eat of the things sacrificed.


9 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.


They have sinned deeply, as in the days of Gabaa: he will remember their iniquity, and will visit their sin.


Hear ye this, O priests, and hearken, O ye house of Israel, and give ear, O house of the king: for there is a judgment against you, because you have been a snare to them whom you should have watched over, and a net spread upon Thabor.


they have cut down at once the gates thereof, with axe and hatchet they have brought it down.


4 And the ancients of the Jews built and prospered according to the prophecy of Aggeus the prophet, and of Zacharias the son of Addo: and they built and finished, by the commandment of the God of Israel, and by the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes kings of the Persians.


Not because you surpass all nations in number, is the Lord joined unto you, and hath chosen you, for you are the fewest of any people:


And when they had stood up against Moses and Aaron, they said: Let it be enough for you, that all the multitude consisteth of holy ones, and the Lord is among them: Why lift you up yourselves above the people of the Lord?


3 But destroy their altars, break their statues, and cut down their groves:


And Moses alone shall come up to the Lord, but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people come up with him.


8 For it hath seemed good to the Holy Ghost and to us, to lay no further burden upon you than these necessary things:


3 If you hurt them they will cry out to me, and I will hear their cry:


1 But Moses besought the Lord his God, saying: Why, O Lord, is thy indignation kindled against thy people, whom thou hast brought out of the land of Egypt, with great power, and with a mighty hand?


And behold one of the children of Israel went in before his brethren to a harlot of Madian, in the sight of Moses, and of all the children of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle.


But because the Lord hath loved you, and hath kept his oath, which he swore to your fathers: and hath brought you out with a strong hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, out of the hand of Pharao the king of Egypt.


2 I will make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh, of the blood of the slain and of the captivity, of the bare head of the enemies.


3 Praise his people, ye nations, for he will revenge the blood of his servants: and will render vengeance to their enemies, and he will be merciful to the land of his people.


And Josue gathered together all the tribes of Israel in Sichem, and called for the ancients, and the princes, and the judges, and the masters: and they stood in the sight of the Lord:


1 And the land rested forty years, and Othoniel the son of Cenez died.


Eleazar beget Phinees, and Phinees beget Abisue,


And Sechenias the son of Jehiel of the sons of Elam answered, and said to Esdras: We have sinned against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: and now if there be repentance in Israel concerning this,


2 You shall not hurt a widow or an orphan.


3 And the Lord commanded Josue the son of Nun, and said: Take courage, and be valiant: for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I have promised, and I will be with thee.
