0 You shall pass over the Jordan, and shall dwell in the land which the Lord your God will give you, that you may have rest from all enemies round about: and may dwell without any fear,


1 And I have put in it the ark, wherein is the covenant of the Lord, which he made with the children of Israel.


And this house shall be made an example of: every one that shall pass by it, shall be astonished, and shall hiss, and say: Why hath the Lord done thus to this land, and to this house:


1 And this house shall be for a proverb to all that pass by, and they shall be astonished and say: Why hath the Lord done thus to this land, and to this house?


6 Only the blood thou shalt not eat, but thou shalt pour it out upon the earth as water.


6 Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose: in the feast of unleavened bread, in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles. No one shall appear with his hands empty before the Lord:


Three years he reigned in Jerusalem, and his mother's name was Michaia, the daughter of Uriel of Gabaa: and there was war between Abia and Jeroboam.


And we cried to the Lord God of our fathers: who heard us, and looked down upon our affliction, and labour, and distress:


7 And they offered at the dedication of the house of God, a, hundred calves, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs, and for a sin offering for all Israel twelve he goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.


4 Then hear thou in heaven, and for- give the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them back to the land which thou gavest to their fathers.


8 But when that servant was gone out, he found one of his fellow servants that owed him an hundred pence: and laying hold of him, throttled him, saying: Pay what thou owest.


8 And return to thee with all their heart, and all their soul, in the land of their enemies, to which they had been led captives: and pray to thee towards the way of their land, which thou gavest to their fathers, and of the city which thou hast chosen, and of the temple which I have built to thy name:


8 The third year thou shalt separate another tithe of all things that grow to thee at that time, and shalt lay it up within thy gates.


4 Thou hast broken the heads of the dragon: thou hast given him to be meat for the people of the Ethiopians.


And I said to the king: O king, live for ever: why should not my countenance be sorrowful, seeing the city of the place of the sepulchres of my fathers is desolate, and the gates thereof are burnt with fire?


7 And they brought the ark of the Lord, and set it in its place in the midst of the tabernacle, which David had pitched for it: and David offered holocausts, and peace offerings before the Lord.


My covenant was with him of life and peace: and I gave him fear: and he feared me, and he was afraid before my name.


They have poured out their blood as water, round about Jerusalem and there was none to bury them.


6 But the things which thou hast sanctified and vowed to the Lord, thou shalt take, and shalt come to the place which the Lord shall choose:


It behoveth therefore a bishop to be blameless, the husband of one wife, sober, prudent, of good behaviour, chaste, given to hospitality, a teacher,


I have baptized you with water; but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.


When God arose in judgment, to save all the meek of the earth.


He bringeth up clouds from the end of the earth: he hath made lightnings for the rain. He bringeth forth winds out of his stores:


Let them be as grass on the tops of houses: which withered before it be plucked up:


And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and magnify thy name, and thou shalt be blessed.


8 Fear not, but remember what the Lord thy God did to Pharao and to all the Egyptians,


8 And Pharao said to Moses: Get thee from me, and beware thou see not my face any more: in what day soever thou shalt come in my sight, thou shalt die.


5 And Moses answered him: The people come to me to seek the judgment of God.


If thou buy a Hebrew servant, six years shall he serve thee: in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.


And he took the blood and sprinkled it upon the people, and he said: This is the blood of the covenant which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these words.


And a grate of brass in manner of a net: at the four corners of which shall be four rings of brass,


4 For the life of all flesh is in the blood: therefore I said to the children of Israel: You shall not eat the blood of any flesh at all, because the life of the flesh is in the blood, and whosoever eateth it, shall be cut off.


2 And he said: Well: my master hath sent me to thee, saying: Just now there are come to me from mount Ephraim, two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.


THEY have sought me that before asked not for me, they have found me that sought me not. I said: Behold me, behold me, to a nation that did not call upon my name.


And taking the book of the covenant, he read it in the hearing of the people: and they said: All things that the Lord hath spoken we will do, we will be obedient.


The prayer of the poor man, when he was anxious, and poured out his supplication before the Lord. Hear, O Lord, my prayer: and let my cry come to thee.


Because of the house of the Lord our God, I have sought good things for thee.
