8 3 Were sent by the king's messengers to all provinces, to kill and destroy all the Jews, both young and old, little children, and women, in one day, that is, on the thirteenth of the twelfth month, which is called Adar, and to make a spoil of their goods.

8 You shall perish among the Gentiles, and an enemy's land shall consume you.

3 Neither can they prove unto thee the things whereof they now accuse me.


3 So there arose a dissension among the people because of him.

4 And the spirit lifted me up, and brought me into Chaldea, to them of the captivity, in vision, by the spirit of God: and the vision which I had seen was taken up from me.

5 The Lord hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his wrath : for the Lord the God of hosts hath a work to be done in the land of the Chaldeans.


And the king said to me: Why is thy countenance sad, seeing thou dost not appear to be sick? this is not without cause, but some evil, I know not what, is in thy heart. And I was seized with an exceeding great fear:


1 For our God is not as their gods: our enemies themselves are judges.


But thou shalt return, and hear the voice of the Lord thy God, and shalt do all the commandments which I command thee this day:


0 Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and diligently searched, who prophesied of the grace to come in you.


4 And the contents of the letters were to this effect, that all provinces might know and be ready against that day.
