9 Who hath woe? whose father hath woe? who hath contentions? who falls into pits? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?


7 Can a man hide fire in his bosom, and his garments not burn?


5 My son, walk not thou with them, restrain thy foot from their paths.


3 His body shall not remain upon the tree, but shall be buried the same day: for he is accursed of God that hangeth on a tree: and thou shalt not defile thy land, which the Lord thy God shall give thee in possession.


And shall bear his iniquity, because he hath defiled the holy thing of the Lord, and that soul shall perish from among his people.


3 And withal being idle they learn to go about from house to house: and are not only idle, but tattlers also, and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.


0 Loving one another with the charity of brotherhood, with honour preventing one another.


4 There are four very little things of the earth, and they are wiser than the wise:


0 Now if I do that which I will not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.


He said therefore to the multitudes that went forth to be baptized by him: Ye offspring of vipers, who hath shewed you to flee from the wrath to come?


3 And if thou have not, hear me : hold thy peace, and I will teach thee wisdom.


2 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth.


Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.


8 Three things are hard to me, and the fourth I am utterly ignorant of.

5 And some one of Israel said: Have you seen this man that is come up, for he is come up to defy Israel. And the man that shall slay him, the king will enrich with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and will make his father's house free from tribute in Israel.


35 Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: and teach me thy justifications.


0 And he said: Blessed art thou of the Lord, my daughter, and thy latter kindness has surpassed the former: because thou hast not followed young men either poor or rich.


6 So the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have constantly kept the commandment of their father, which he commanded them: but this people hath not obeyed me.


If so be they may present their supplication before the Lord, and may return every one from his wicked way: for great is the wrath and indignation which the Lord hath pronounced against this people.


3 And he set Ephraim on his right bend, that is, towards the left hand of Israel; but Manasses on his left hand, to wit, towards his father's right hand, and brought them near to him.


4 And Joseph returned into Egypt with his brethren, and all that were in his company, after he had buried his father.
