The fool foldeth his hands together, and eateth his own flesh, saying:


In saying before, Sacrifices, and oblations, and holocausts for sin thou wouldest not, neither are they pleasing to thee, which are offered according to the law.


8 I went mourning without indignation; I rose up, and cried in the crowd.


4 Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed: save me, and I shall be saved, for thou art my praise.


Hear the word of the Lord, you that tremble at his word: Your brethren that hate you, and cast you out for my name's sake, have said: Let the Lord be glorified, and we shall see in your joy: but they shall be confounded.


He that sacrificeth an ox, is as if he slew a man: he that killeth a sheep in sacrifice, as if he should brain a dog: he that offereth an oblation, as if he should offer swine's blood; he that remembereth incense, as if he should bless an idol. All these things have they chosen in their ways, and their soul is delighted in their abominations.


4 And all things that are done, God will bring into judgment for every error, whether it be good or evil.


0 He that shall be, his name is already called: and it is known, that he is man, and cannot contend in judgment with him that is stronger than himself.


9 Many are the afflictions of the just; but out of them all will the Lord deliver them.


2 Am I a sea, or a whale, that thou hast enclosed me in a prison?


And Satan answered, and said: Skin for skin, and all that a man hath he will give for his life:


And all the time that Adam lived came to nine hundred and thirty years, and he died.


1 For when a man laboureth in wisdom, and knowledge, and carefulness, he leaveth what he hath gotten to an idle man: so this also is vanity, and a great evil.


2 What needeth a man to seek things that are above him, whereas he knoweth not what is profitable for him in his life, in all the days of his pilgrimage, and the time that passeth like a shadow? Or who can tell him what shall be after him under the sun?


Be not quickly angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of a fool.


Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest, all the days of thy unsteady life, which are given to thee under the sun, all the time of thy vanity: for this is thy portion in life, and in thy labour wherewith thou labourest under the sun.
