0 For the sorrow that is according to God worketh penance, steadfast unto salvation; but the sorrow of the world worketh death.


Having an appearance indeed of godliness, but denying the power thereof. Now these avoid.


Vanity of vanities, said Ecclesiastes, and all things are vanity.


I thought in my heart, to withdraw my flesh from wine, that I might turn my mind to wisdom, and might avoid folly, till I might see what was profitable for the children of men: and what they ought to do under the sun, all the days of their life.


What is it that hath been? the same thing that shall be. What is it that hath been done? the same that shall be done.


2 Hear my prayer, O Lord, and my supplication : give ear to my tears. Be not silent : for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner as all my fathers were.


6 He shall suck the head of asps, and the viper's tongue shall kill him.


And dost thou think it meet to open thy eyes upon such an one, and to bring him into judgment with thee?


4 The Lord is a firmament to them that fear him: and his covenant shall be made manifest to them.


2 Do no violence to the poor, because he is poor: and do not oppress the needy in the gate:


7 And brightness like that of the noonday, shall arise to thee at evening: and when thou shalt think thyself consumed, thou shalt rise as the day star.


3 O forgive me, that I may be refreshed, before I go hence, and be no more.
