There was a certain Levite, who dwelt on the side of mount Ephraim, who took a wife of Bethlehem Juda:


And the Lord spoke to Josue, saying: Speak to the children of Israel and say to them:


0 Moreover they that were near them even as far as Issachar, and Zabulon, and Nephtali, brought leaves on asses, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen, to eat: meal, figs, raisins, wine, oil, and oxen, and sheep in abundance, for there was joy in Israel.


And he restored them to his mother: and she took two hundred pieces of silver and gave them to the silversmith, to make of them a graven and a molten god, which was in the house of Michas.


0 And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.


3 They said: We will not kill thee: but we will deliver thee up bound. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him from the rock Etam.


And he went and caught three hundred foxes, and coupled them tail to tail, and fastened torches between the tails.


1 And when the citizens of that place saw him, they brought him thirty companions to be with him.


But he answered thus: Behold thou shalt conceive and bear a son: beware thou drink no wine, nor strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite of God from his infancy, from his mother's womb until the day of his death.


He sealeth up the hand of all men, that every one may know his works.


0 Thy mother is like a vine in thy blood planted by the water: her fruit and her branches have grown out of many waters.


1 And she hath strong rods to make sceptres for them that bear rule, and her stature was exalted among the branches: and she saw her height in the multitude of her branches.
