0 He found him in a desert land, in a place of horror, and of vast wilderness: he led him about, and taught him: and he kept him as the apple of his eye.


6 But Jesus, calling them together, said: Suffer children to come to me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.


7 But Jesus taking him by the hand, lifted him up; and he arose.


5 He said: Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying: What is thy opinion, Simon? The kings of the earth, of whom do they receive tribute or custom? of their own children, or of strangers?


For now they shall say: We have no king: because we fear not the Lord: and what shall a king do to us?


And go forth into the valley of the son of Ennom, which is by the entry of the earthen gate: and there thou shalt proclaim the words that I shall tell thee.


A people that continually provoke me to anger before my face: that immolate in gardens, and sacrifice upon bricks.


7 A thousand men shall flee for fear of one: and for fear of five shall you flee, till you be left as the mast of a ship on the top of a mountain, and as an ensign upon a hill.


7 The Lord shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon the house of thy father, days that have not come since the time of the separation of Ephraim from Juda with the king of the Assyrians.


5 But Job hath spoken foolishly, and his words sound not discipline.


Man born of a woman, living for a short time, is filled with many miseries.


5 Then Josaphat came, and all the people with him to take away the spoils of the dead, and they found among the dead bodies, stuff of various kinds, and garments, and most precious vessels: and they took them for themselves, insomuch that they could not carry all, nor in three days take away the spoils, the booty was so great.


The works of God are perfect, and all his ways are judgments: God is faithful and without any iniquity, he is just and right.


5 And truly if they had been mindful of that from whence they came out, they had doubtless time to return.


1 For we have heard there are some among you who walk disorderly, working not at all, but curiously meddling.


8 Lest perhaps the inhabitants of the land, out of which thou hast brought us, say: The Lord could not bring them into the land that he promised them, and he hated them: therefore he brought them out, that he might kill them in the wilderness,


5 Therefore as he hath fulfilled in deed, what he promised, and all things prosperous have come: so Will he bring upon you all the evils he hath threatened, till he take you away and destroy you from off this excellent land, which he hath given you,


3 Till the Lord removed Israel from his face, as he had spoken in the hand of all his servants the prophets: and Israel was carried away out of their land to Assyria, unto this day.


5 And when they began to dwell there, they feared not the Lord: and the Lord sent lions among them, which killed them.


8 So one of the priests who had been carried away captive from Samaria, came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should worship the Lord.


Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee, lest I make thee desolate, a land uninhabited.
