16 1 And after many evils and afflictions shall have come upon them, this canticle shall answer them for a testimony, which no oblivion shall take away out of the mouth of their seed. For I know their thoughts, and what they are about to de this day, before that I bring them into the land which I have promised them.

1 And the Lord said to them: Did not the Egyptians and the Amorrhites, and the children of Ammon and the Philistines,


8 And the princes of Galaad said one to another: Whosoever of us shall first begin to fight against the children of Ammon, he shall be the leader of the people of Galaad.


7 Committing fornication with strange gods, and adoring them. They quickly forsook the way, in which their fathers had walked: and hearing the commandments of the Lord, they did all things contrary.


8 Thou shalt keep the feast of the unleavened bread. Seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee in the time of the month of the new corn: for in the month of the springtime thou camest out from Egypt.


1 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called faithful and true, and with justice doth he judge and fight.


3 And it came to pass after all thy wickedness (woe, woe to thee, saith the Lord God)


0 And he said: I will hide my face from them, and will consider what their last end shall be: for it is a perverse generation, and unfaithful children.


4 But the next sabbath day, the whole city almost came together, to hear the word of God.


7 According to all these words and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak to David.

And decaying he died in a good old age, and having lived a long time, and being full of days: and was gathered to his people.


5 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace, and be buried in a good old age.


1 And he said: Swear then to me. And as he was swearing, Israel adored God, turning to the bed's head.


0 After all the things aforesaid shall and thee, in the latter time thou shalt return to the Lord thy God, and shalt hear his voice.


6 And the Lord raised up judges, to deliver them from the hands of those that oppressed them: but they would not hearken to them,

5 And the Lord said to him: Go, and return on thy way through the desert to Damascus: and when thou art come thither, thou shalt anoint Hazael to be king over Syria.

2 Sow for yourselves in justice, and reap in the mouth of mercy, break up your fallow ground: but the time to seek the Lord is, when he shall come that shall teach you justice.


0 But I will sleep with my fathers, end thou shalt take me away out of this land, and bury me in the burying place of my ancestors. And Joseph answered him: I will do what thou hast commanded.


8 And the Lord said to him: Take Josue the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and put thy hand upon him.


3 And the Lord commanded Josue the son of Nun, and said: Take courage, and be valiant: for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I have promised, and I will be with thee.


He hath loved the people, all the saints are in his hand: and they that approach to his feet, shall receive of his doctrine.


0 And there arose no more a prophet in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face,


7 And the king of the Assyrians sent Tharthan and Rabsaris, and Rabsaces from Lachis to king Ezechias with a strong army to Jerusalem: and they went up and came to Jerusalem, and they stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the way of the fuller's field.


And I will add to thy days fifteen years: and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of the Assyrians, and I will protect this city for my own sake, and for David my servant's sake.


6 And the Lord stirred up against Joram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, who border on the Ethiopians.


6 Come ye near unto me, and hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning: from the time before it was done, I was there, and now the Lord God hath sent me, and his spirit.
