In the seventh year of Jehu Joas began to reign: and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother was Sebia of Bersabee.


0 And they buried him in the border of his possession in Thamnathsare, which is situate in mount Ephraim, on the north side of mount Gaas.


9 And when he shall hear the words of this oath, he should bless himself in his heart saying: I shall have peace, and will walk on in the naughtiness of my heart: and the drunken may consume the thirsty,


6 For you know how we dwelt in the land of Egypt, and how we have passed through the midst of nations, and passing through them,


8 Lest perhaps there should be among you a man or a woman, a family or a tribe, whose heart is turned away this day from the Lord our God, to go and serve the gods of those nations: and there should be among you a root bringing forth gall and bitterness.


8 Thou hast also committed fornication with the Assyrians, because thou wast not yet satisfied: and after thou hadst played the harlot with them, even so thou wast not contented.


And Moses told all this to the children of Israel: but they did not hearken to him, for anguish of spirit, and most painful work.


3 Let me have from among you wise and understanding men, and such whose conversation is approved among your tribes, that I may appoint them your rulers.


That thou mayst write on them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over the Jordan: that thou mayst enter into the land which the Lord thy God will give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, as he swore to thy fathers.


4 And turn not away from them neither to the right hand, nor to the left, nor follow strange gods, nor worship them.
