9 All the things that you shall offer of the tithes, and shall separate for the gifts of the Lord, shall be the best and choicest things.


And the Lord spoke to Moses in the desert of Sinai in the tabernacle of the covenant, the first day of the second month, the second year of their going out of Egypt, saying:


8 In the multitude of people is the dignity of the king: and in the small number of people the dishonour of the prince.


4 For it is evident that our Lord sprung out of Juda: in which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priests.


9 And not go aside to either part. Thou shalt not accept person nor gifts: for gifts blind the eyes of the wise, and change the words of the just.


8 There is indeed a setting aside of the former commandment, because of the weakness and unprofitableness thereof:


5 And they answered: Our life is in thy hand: only let my lord look favourably upon us, and we will gladly serve the king.


7 So Israel dwelt in Egypt, that is, in the land of Gessen, and possessed it: and grew, and was multiplied exceedingly.
