8 See to it that no one carries you off as spoil or makes you yourselves captive by his so-called philosophy and intellectualism and vain deceit (idle fancies and plain nonsense), following human tradition (men's ideas of the material rather than the spiritual world), just crude notions following the rudimentary and elemental teachings of the universe and disregarding [the teachings of] Christ (the Messiah).

Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but labour with the gospel, according to the power of God,


5 See therefore, brethren, how you walk circumspectly: not as unwise,


3 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.


8 But be zealous for that which is good in a good thing always: and not only when I am present with you.


For which things the wrath of God cometh upon the children of unbelief,


But be thou vigilant, labour in all things, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil thy ministry. Be sober.


6 For thus saith the Lord to the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and to all the people that dwell in this city, to your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity.


If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.


8 Pray for us. For we trust we have a good conscience, being willing to behave ourselves well in all things.


I have no greater grace than this, to hear that my children walk in truth.


2 Be ye as I, because I also am as you: brethren, I beseech you: you have not injured me at all.


4 For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as if we reached not unto you. For we are come as far as to you in the gospel of Christ.


When Christ shall appear, who is your life, then you also shall appear with him in glory.


As newborn babes, desire the rational milk without guile, that thereby you may grow unto salvation:


6 (Which now is made manifest by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the precept of the eternal God, for the obedience of faith,) known among all nations;


9 Let no evil speech proceed from your mouth; but that which is good, to the edification of faith, that it may administer grace to the hearers.


3 But they had heard only: He, who persecuted us in times past, doth now preach the faith which once he impugned:


1 If by any means I may attain to the resurrection which is from the dead.


7 Keep the precepts of the Lord thy God, and the testimonies and ceremonies which he hath commanded thee.


4 But they said: Some John the Baptist, and other some Elias, and others Jeremias, or one of the prophets.


5 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the goodman of the house Beelzebub, how much more them of his household?


But now put you also all away: anger, indignation, malice, blasphemy, filthy speech out of your mouth.


1 For which cause be mindful that you, being heretofore Gentiles in the flesh, who are called uncircumcision by that which is called circumcision in the flesh, made by hands;


6 And hath made of one, all mankind, to dwell upon the whole face of the earth, determining appointed times, and the limits of their habitation.


But they gainsaying and blaspheming, he shook his garments, and said to them: Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.


Who is she that goeth up by the desert, as a pillar of smoke of aromatical spices, of myrrh, and frankincense, and of all the powders of the perfumer?


Have we not power to carry about a woman, a sister, as well as the rest of the apostles, and the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?


1 You cannot drink the chalice of the Lord, and the chalice of devils: you cannot be partakers of the table of the Lord, and of the table of devils.


4 And they that are Christ's, have crucified their flesh, with the vices and concupiscences.


Lie not one to another: stripping yourselves of the old man with his deeds,


For unto us also it hath been declared, in like manner as unto them. But the word of hearing did not profit them, not being mixed with faith of those things they heard.
