For whom the Lord loveth, he chastiseth; and he scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.


1 And the multitude rebuked them that they should hold their peace. But they cried out the more, saying: O Lord, thou son of David, have mercy on us.


6 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho, with his disciples, and a very great multitude, Bartimeus the blind man, the son of Timeus, sat by the way side begging.


3 But it is not so among you: but whosoever will be greater, shall be your minister.


5 And the Lord said to him: Go, and return on thy way through the desert to Damascus: and when thou art come thither, thou shalt anoint Hazael to be king over Syria.


He looked, and behold there was at his head a hearth cake, and a vessel of water: and he ate and drank, and he fell asleep again.


And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son: till the time come for his land and himself: and many nations and great kings shall serve him.


7 Who when he had heard, that it was Jesus of Nazareth, began to cry out, and to say: Jesus son of David, have mercy on me.


And going out, he followed him, and he knew not that it was true which was done by the angel: but thought he saw a vision.
