7 And let the brightness of the Lord our God be upon us: and direct thou the works of our hands over us; yea, the work of our hands do thou direct.


2 Having your conversation good among the Gentiles: that whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by the good works, which they shall behold in you, glorify God in the day of visitation.


But, my dearly beloved, we trust better things of you, and nearer to salvation; though we speak thus.


5 And I said in my heart: If the death of the fool and mine shall be one, what doth it avail me, that I have applied myself more to the study of wisdom? And speaking with my own mind, I perceived that this also was vanity.


6 With him is strength and wisdom: he knoweth both the deceiver, and him that is deceived.


My flesh is clothed with rottenness and the filth of dust, my skin is withered and drawn together.

1 Therefore all the men of Israel running together to the king, said to him: Why have our brethren the men of Juda stolen thee away, and have brought the king and his household over the Jordan, and all the men of David with him?
