6 But now they desire a better, that is to say, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for he hath prepared for them a city.

9 And the man of God was angry with him, and said: If thou hadst smitten five or six or seven times, thou hadst smitten Syria even to utter destruction: but now three times shalt thou smite it.


9 And he said to him: Go in peace. So he departed from him in the springtime of the earth.


7 But they pressed him, till he consented, and said: Send. And they sent fifty men: and they sought three days but found him not.


0 And every one slew the man that came against him: and the Syrians fled, and Israel pursued after them. And Benadad king of Syria fled away on horseback with his horsemen.


4 Therefore he sent thither horses and chariots, and the strength of an army: and they came by night, and beset the city.


6 But he answered: Fear not: for there are more with us than with them.


And thou, O Lord, hast known me, thou hast seen me, and proved my heart with thee: gather them together as sheep for a sacrifice, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.
