8 And her neighbours and kinsfolks heard that the Lord had shewed his great mercy towards her, and they congratulated with her.

2 Now therefore our God, great, strong and terrible, who keepest covenant and mercy, turn not away from thy face all the labour which hath come upon us, upon our kings, and our princes, and our priests, and our prophets, and our fathers, and all the people from the days of the king of Assur, until this day.


1 So these nations feared the Lord, but nevertheless served also their idols: their children also and grandchildren, as their fathers did, so do they unto this day.


And all Israel heard this report: Saul hath smitten the garrison of the Philistines: and Israel took courage against the Philistines. And the people were called together after Saul to Galgal.


9 To enlighten them that sit in darkness, and in the shadow of death: to direct our feet into the way of peace.

He destroyed the n high places, and broke the statues in pieces, and cut down the groves, and broke the brazen serpent, which Moses had made: for till that time the children of Israel burnt incense to it: and he called its name Nohestan.


And they said to Samuel: Cease not to cry to the Lord our God for us, that he may save us out of the hand of the Philistines.
