3 For if the blood of goats and of oxen, and the ashes of an heifer being sprinkled, sanctify such as are defiled, to the cleansing of the flesh:


6 Now then, O Lord God of Israel, fulfil to thy servant David my father, whatsoever thou hast promised him, saying: There shall not fail thee a man in my sight, to sit upon the throne of Israel: yet so that thy children take heed to their ways, and walk in my law, as thou hast walked before me.


And all the people answered together: All that the Lord hath spoken, we will do. And when Moses had related the people's words to the Lord,


You have not eaten bread, nor have you drunk wine or strong drink: that you might know that I am the Lord your God.


5 Placing the lamps in order, according to the precept of the Lord.


Then he cut out two tables of stone, such as had been before: and rising very early he went up into the mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, carrying with him the tables.


2 And he answered him: Let not my lord be offended: for thou knowest this people, that they are prone to evil.


And the people did what he had commanded, bringing the earrings to Aaron.
