16 1 That the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremias might be fulfilled, and the land might keep her sabbaths: for all the days of the desolation she kept a sabbath, till the seventy years were expired.

5 And they immolated the phase on the fourteenth day of the second month. And the priests and the Levites being at length sanctified offered holocausts in the house of the Lord.


7 Then we who are alive, who are left, shall be taken up together with them in the clouds to meet Christ, into the air, and so shall we be always with the Lord.


1 And I took the deed of the purchase that was sealed, and the stipulations, and the ratifications with the seals that were on the outside.


2 When thou walkest, let them go with thee: when thou sleepest, let them keep thee; and when thou awakest, talk with them.


They said in their heart, the whole kindred of them together: Let us abolish all the festival days of God from the land.


Corrupt men bring a city to ruin: but wise men turn away wrath.


3 Arise, and be attentive to my judgment : to my cause, my God, and my Lord.


7 Now therefore if it seem good to the king, let him search in the king's library, which is in Babylon, whether it hath been decreed by Cyrus the king, that the house of God in Jerusalem should be built, and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter.


And you have forgotten the consolation, which speaketh to you, as unto children, saying: My son, neglect not the discipline of the Lord; neither be thou wearied whilst thou art rebuked by him.


But they gainsaying and blaspheming, he shook his garments, and said to them: Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.


9 And the word of the Lord was published throughout the whole country.


0 And falling on his knees, he cried with a loud voice, saying: Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep in the Lord. And Saul was consenting to his death.

WOE to Ariel, to Ariel the city which David took: year is added to year: the solemnities are at an end.

0 There shall no more be an infant of days there, nor an old man that shall not fill up his days: for the child shall die a hundred years old, and the sinner being a hundred years old shall be accursed.


8 Say to the king, and to the queen: Humble yourselves, sit down: for the crown of your glory is come down from your head.


6 Let that man be as the cities that the Lord hath overthrown, and hath not repented: let him hear a cry in the morning, and howling at noontide:


0 And their children shall be as from the beginning, and their assembly be permanent before me : and I will against all that afflict them.


1 And I will rejoice over them, when I shall do them good: and I will plant them in this land in truth, with my whole heart, and with all my soul.


So Johanan the son of Caree, and all the captains of the soldiers, and all the people, obeyed not the voice of the Lord, to remain in the land of Juda.


4 And the Lord hath watched upon the evil, and hath brought it upon us: the Lord our God is just in all his works which he hath done: for we have not hearkened to his voice.


0 Your labour shall be spent in vain, the ground shall not bring forth her increase, nor the trees yield their fruit.


2 That through them I may try Israel, whether they will keep the way of the Lord, and walk in it, as their fathers kept it, or not.


And the children of Ammon came out and put their army in array before the gate of the city : and the kings, that were come to their aid, stood apart in the field.


4 And whereas there came a very small number of the Syrians, the Lord delivered into their hands an infinite multitude, because they had forsaken the Lord the God of their fathers: and on Joas they executed shameful judgments.


2 I will declare thy justice, and thy works shall not profit thee.
