And Solomon went up thither to the brazen altar, before the tabernacle of the covenant of the Lord, and offered up on it a thousand victims.

6 And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of chariot horses, and twelve thou- sand for the saddle.


5 And it came to pass that night, that an angel of the Lord came, and slew in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and eighty-five thousand. And when he arose early in the morning, he saw all the bodies of the dead.


And I meditated in the night with my own heart: and I was exercised and I swept my spirit.
