8 3 But that army which Amasias had sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, spread themselves among the cities of Juda, from Samaria to Beth-horon, and having killed three thousand took away much spoil.

1 Do the contrary, and endeavour to cast us out of the possession which thou hast delivered to us.


For the hope that is laid up for you in heaven, which you have heard in the word of the truth of the gospel,


6 When you went to a heap of twenty bushels, and they became ten: and you went into the press, to press out fifty vessels, and they became twenty.


Before the silver cord be broken, and the golden fillet shrink back, and the pitcher be crushed at the fountain, and the wheel be broken upon the cistern,


8 Better is wisdom, than weapons of war: and he that shall offend in one, shall lose many good things.


9 The strength of the upright is the way of the Lord: and fear to them that work evil.


If I have remembered thee upon my bed, I will meditate on thee in the morning:


For David, when he changed his countenance before Achimelech, who dismissed him, and he went his way. [1 Kings 21.] I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise shall be always in my mouth.


7 Vain is the horse for safety: neither shall he be saved by the abundance of his strength.


Who is this King of Glory? the Lord who is strong and mighty: the Lord mighty in battle.


His glory is great in thy salvation: glory and great beauty shalt thou lay upon him.


8 He alloweth not my spirit to rest, and he filleth me with bitterness.


3 But thou shalt have a covenant with the stones of the lands, and the beasts of the earth shall be at pence with thee.


9 And the Lord said: Who shall deceive Achab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall in Ramoth Galaad? And when one spoke in this manner, and another otherwise:


7 A chariot of four horses for six hundred pieces of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty: in like manner market was made in all the kingdoms of the Hethites, and of the kings of Syria.


1 So both of them discovered themselves to the garrison of the Philistines: and the Philistines said: Behold the Hebrews come forth out of the holes wherein they were hid.


2 But Madian and Amalec, and all the eastern people lay scattered in the valley, as a multitude of locusts: their camels also were innumerable as the sand that lieth on the sea shore.


Thou shalt know therefore this day that the Lord thy God himself will pass over before thee, a devouring and consuming fire, to destroy and extirpate and bring them to nothing before thy face quickly, as he hath spoken to thee.


3 Thinkest thou that I cannot ask my Father, and he will give me presently more than twelve legions of angels?


2 And the whole number of the chiefs by the families of valiant men were two thousand six hundred.


0 Be mindful, O Lord, of the reproach of thy servants (which I have held in my bosom) of many nations:
