4 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and might cleanse to himself a people acceptable, a pursuer of good works.


0 For the desire of money is the root of all evils; which some coveting have erred from the faith, and have entangled themselves in many sorrows.


To speak evil of no man, not to be litigious, but gentle: shewing all mildness towards all men.


2 Let no man despise thy youth: but be thou an example of the faithful in word, in conversation, in charity, in faith, in chastity.


2 And they came and spoke to the king concerning the edict: O king, hast thou not decreed, that every man that should make a request to any of the gods, or men, for thirty days, but to thyself, O king, should be cast into the den of the lions? The wisdom of a. discreet man is to understand his way: and the imprudence of fools erreth.


3 Let us go forth therefore to him without the camp, bearing his reproach.
