And this was the tenor of the letters: Proclaim a fast, and make Naboth sit among the chief of the people,


For he saith: In an accepted time have I heard thee; and in the day of salvation have I helped thee. Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.


3 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the gaoler to keep them diligently.


7 But they being troubled and frightened, supposed that they saw a spirit.


1 Or what king, about to go to make war against another king, doth not first sit down, and think whether he be able, with ten thousand, to meet him that, with twenty thousand, cometh against him?


7 As it is not good for a man to eat much honey, so he that is a searcher of majesty, shall be overwhelmed by glory.


8 But there is only this, for which thou shalt entreat the Lord for thy servant, when my master goeth into the temple of Remmon, to worship: and he leaneth upon my hand, if I bow down in the temple of Remmon, when he boweth down in the same place, that the Lord pardon me thy servant for this thing.


3 He said to his servant: Say to her Behold thou hast diligently served us in all things, what wilt thou have me to de for thee? hast thou any business, and wilt thou that I speak to the king, or to the general of the army? And she answered: I dwell in the midst of my own people.


And the lords of the Philistines marched with their hundreds and their thousands: but David and his men were in the rear with Achis.


1 To bring in queen Vasthi before the king, with the crown set upon her head, to shew her beauty to all the people and the princes: for she was exceeding beautiful.


9 And they shall render your wickedness upon you, and you shall bear the sins of your idols: and you shall know that I am the Lord God.
