And the people returned to the camp: and the ancients of Israel said: Why hath the Lord defeated us to day before the Philistines? Let us fetch unto us the ark of the covenant of the Lord from Silo, and let it come in the midst of us, that it may save us from the hand of our enemies.


After this, it came to pass, that two eunuchs, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, offended their lord.


Who knew very well that the Lord was with him, and made all that he did to prosper in his hand.


2 And one answered another, saying: And who is their father? therefore it became a proverb: Is Saul also among the prophets?


I have baptized you with water; but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.


And thou Bethlehem the land of Juda art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come forth the captain that shall rule my people Israel.


5 And Chusai said to Sadoc and Abiathar the priests: Thus and thus did Achitophel counsel Absalom, and the ancients of Israel: and thus and thus did I counsel them.


3 And if he shall enter into any city, all Israel shall cast ropes round about that city, and we will draw it into the river, so that there shall not be found so much as one small stone thereof.


5 But in all Israel there was not a man so comely, and so exceedingly beautiful as Absalom: from the sole of the foot to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him.


2 And Saul sent to Isai, saying: Let David stand before me: for he hath found favour in my sight.


Now the Philistines gathering together their troops to battle, assembled at Socho of Juda, and camped between Socho and Azeca in the borders of Dommim.


7 And Isai said to David his son: Take for thy brethren an ephi of frumenty, and these ten loaves, and run to the camp to thy brethren.


7 And Saul said to his servants: Provide me then some man that can play well, and bring him to me.


5 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsels.
