5 Samech. Depart you that are defiled, they cried out to them: Depart, get ye hence, touch not: for they quarrelled, and being removed, they said among the Gentiles: He will no more dwell among them.

7 And all this assembly shall know, that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for it is his battle, and he will deliver you into our hands.


2 Then Samuel taking Saul and his servant, brought them into the parlour, and gave them a place at the head of them that were invited. For there were about thirty men.


h And after many days his mistress 'cast her eyes on Joseph, and said: Lie with me.


2 And what shall I yet say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, Barac, Samson, Jephthe, David, Samuel, and the prophets:


The psalm of David when he fled from the face of his son Absalom: Why, O Lord, are they multiplied that afflict me? many are they who rise up against me.


Thou shalt rule them with a rod of iron, and shalt break them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

And Saul took him that day, and would not let him return to his father's house.


3 He shall build a house to my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.


But transgressors shall all of them be plucked up as thorns: which are not taken away with hands.


9 And Sadoc the priest took a horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon: and they sounded the trumpet, and all the people said: God save king Solomon.


How long, O Lord, wilt thou be angry for ever: shall thy zeal be kindled like a fire?


And he said: This is wickedness. And he cast her into the midst of the vessel, and cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.


3 So whensoever the evil spirit from the Lord was upon Saul, David took his harp, and played with his hand, and Saul was refreshed, and was better, for the evil spirit departed from him.
