36 1 And Saul said to the Lord: O Lord God of Israel, give a sign, by which we may know, what the meaning is, that thou answerest not thy servant to day. If this iniquity be in me, or in my son Jonathan, give a proof: or if this iniquity be in thy people, give holiness. And Jonathan and Saul were taken, and the people escaped.

They have set fire to thy sanctuary: they have defiled the dwelling place of thy name on the earth.


And Jonathan said: Behold we will go over to these men. And when we shall be seen by them,


And Samuel said to all Israel: Behold I have hearkened to your voice in all that you said to me, and have made a king over you.


9 There was hot a city that delivered itself to the children of Israel, except the Hevite, who dwelt in Gabaon: for he took all by fight.


4 And when they were Drought out to him, he called all the men of Israel, and said to the chiefs of the army that were with him: Go, and set your feet on the necks of these kings. And when they had gone, and put their feet upon the necks of them lying under them,


These are the sacrifices which you shall offer: Two lambs of a year old without blemish every day for the perpetual holocaust:


8 Therefore I also have lent him to the Lord all the days of his life, he shall be lent to the Lord. And they adored the Lord there. And Anna prayed, and said:
