1 Standing every man in his place round about the enemies' camp. So all the camp was troubled, and crying out and howling they fled away.


2 Seest thou, that faith did co-operate with his works; and by works faith was made perfect?


0 Or if he shall ask him a fish, will he reach him a serpent?


Come and behold ye the works of the Lord: what wonders he hath done upon earth,


And taking both the oxen, he cut them in pieces, and sent them into all the coasts of Israel by messengers, saying: Whosoever shall not come forth, and follow Saul and Samuel, so shall it be done to his oxen. And the fear of the Lord fell upon the people, and they went out as one man.


8 Went up into mount Selmon he and all his people with him: and taking an axe, he cut down the bough of a tree, and laying it on his shoulder and carrying it, he said to his companions: What you see me do, do you out of hand.

5 And having taken two men of Madian, Oreb and Zeb: Oreb they slew in the rock of Oreb, and Zeb in the winepress of Zeb. And they pursued Madian, carrying the heads of Oreb and Zeb to Gedeon beyond the waters of the Jordan.


And the people of Israel were defeated there by David's army, and a great slaughter was made that day of twenty thousand men.


2 And there was a great war against the Philistines all the days of Saul. For whomsoever Saul saw to be a valiant man, and fit for war, he took him to himself.
