1 Fathers, provoke not your children to indignation, lest they be discouraged.


2 He sent therefore and brought him Now he was ruddy and beautiful to behold, and of a comely face. And the Lord said: Arise, and anoint him, for this is he.


And not rather (as we are slandered, and as some affirm that we say) let us do evil, that there may come good? whose damnation is just.


And if you knew what this meaneth: I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: you would never have condemned the innocent.


1 Knowing that he, that is such an one, is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned by his own judgment.


4 Therefore behold I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them you will put to death and crucify, and some you will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city:


For they that are according to the flesh, mind the things that are of the flesh; but they that are according to the spirit, mind the things that are of the spirit.


(For we walk by faith, and not by sight.)


For yourselves know perfectly, that the day of the Lord shall so come, as a thief in the night.


1 And he gave some apostles, and some prophets, and other some evangelists, and other some pastors and doctors,


That now he may live the rest of his time in the flesh , not after the desires of men, but according to the will of God.


1 Let the woman learn in silence, with all subjection.


8 Truly you bear witness that you consent to the doings of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and you build their sepulchres.


And they shall know their seed among the Gentiles, and their offspring in the midst of peoples: all that shall see them, shall know them, that these are the seed which the Lord hath blessed.


For they seek me from day to day, sad desire to know my ways, as a nation that hath done justice, and hath not forsaken the judgment of their God: they ask of me the judgments of justice: they are willing to approach to God.


6 Look thou upon me, and have mercy on me; for I am alone and poor.


And you have respect to him that is clothed with the fine apparel, and shall say to him: Sit thou here well; but say to the poor man: Stand thou there, or sit under my footstool:


Now as Jannes and Mambres resisted Moses, so these also resist the truth, men corrupted in mind, reprobate concerning the faith.

3 You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing any more but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men.


And the- strength of Pharao shall be to your confusion, and the confidence of the shadow of Egypt to your shame.


Praise ye him for his mighty acts: praise ye him according to the multitude of his greatness.


3 Because he hath strengthened the bolts of thy gates, he hath blessed thy children within thee.


4 For sin shall not have dominion over you; for you are not under the law, but under grace.


3 And lifting up his eyes when he was in torments, he saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom:


3 I will teach the unjust thy ways: and the wicked shall be converted to thee.


Their waters roared and were troubled: the mountains were troubled with his strength.


To you therefore that believe, he is honour: but to them that believe not, the stone which the builders rejected, the same is made the head of the corner:


2 Put ye on therefore, as the elect of God, holy, and beloved, the bowels of mercy, benignity, humility, modesty, patience:


And let him that is instructed in the word, communicate to him that instructeth him, in all good things.


Behold we have heard of it in Ephrata: we have found it in the fields of the wood.

3 And he saith to them: It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but you have made it a den of thieves.
