1 At Jehu coming in at the gate, and said: Can there be peace for Zambri, that hath killed his master?


3 Neither can they prove unto thee the things whereof they now accuse me.


Then he went out of the land of the Chaldeans, and dwelt in Charan. And from thence, after his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein you now dwell.


0 This title therefore many of the Jews did read: because the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, in Greek, and in Latin.

6 He that keepeth the commandment, keepeth his own soul: but he that neglecteth his own way, shall die.


2 As the roaring of a lion, so also is the anger of a king: and his cheerfulness as the dew upon the grass.


6 For the price of a harlot is scarce one loaf: but the woman catcheth the precious soul of a man.


8 I will give thanks to thee in a great church; I will praise thee in a strong people.


Because they have not understood the works of the Lord, and the operations of his hands: thou shalt destroy them, and shalt not build them up.


After this Job opened his mouth, and cursed his day,


6 And while he was yet speaking, another came, and said: The fire of God fell from heaven, and striking the sheep and the servants, hath consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell thee.


0 Hast not thou made a fence for him, and his house, and all his substance round about, blessed the works of his hands, and his possession hath increased on the earth ?


9 He that lay with her shall give to the father of the maid fifty sides of silver, and shall have her to wife, because he hath humbled her: he may not put her away all the days of his life.


6 The damsel shall suffer nothing, neither is she guilty of death : for as a robber riseth against his brother, and taketh away his life, so also did the damsel suffer:


Thou shalt do in like manner with his ass, and with his raiment, and with every thing that is thy brother's, which is lost: if thou find it, neglect it not as pertaining to another.


5 Thou shalt forthwith kill the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, and shalt destroy it and all things that are in it, even the cattle.


5 Why shall we die therefore, and why shall this exceeding great Are consume us: for if we hear the voice of the Lord our God any more, we shall die.


9 Saying to Moses: Speak thou to us, and we will hear: let not the Lord speak to us, lest we die.


For whom the Lord loveth, he chastiseth; and he scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.


9 And thou shalt speak to him, saying: Thus saith the Lord: Thou hast slain, moreover also thou hast taken possession. And after these words thou shalt add: Thus saith the Lord: In this place, wherein the dogs have licked the blood of Naboth, they shall lick thy blood also.


If we will enter into the city, we shall die with the famine: and if we will remain here, we must also die: come, therefore, and let us run over to the camp of the Syrians. If they spare us, we shall live: but if they kill us, we shall but die.


6 Now the men that conspired against him were Zabad the son of Semmaath an Ammonitess, and Jozabad the son of Semarith a Moabitess.


So Eliu waited while Job was speaking, because they were his elders that were speaking.


Many men are called merciful: but who shall find a faithful man?
