That the Lord may confirm his words, which he hath spoken of me, saying: If thy children shall take heed to their ways, and shall walk before me in truth, with all their heart, and with all their soul, there shall not be taken away from thee a man on the throne of Israel.


4 And let Sadoc the priest, and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel: and you shall sound the trumpet, and shall say: God save king Solomon.


David defeated also Adarezer the son of Rohob king of Soba, when he went to extend his dominion over the river Euphrates.


3 And blessed be thou, who hast kept me to day, from coming to blood, and revenging me with my own hand.


After this there went a man of the house of Levi; and took a wife of his own kindred.


5 And Nathan returned to his house. The Lord also struck the child which the wife of Urias had borne to David, and his life was despaired of.


1 And they told Solomon, saying: Behold Adonias, fearing king Solomon, hath taken hold of the horn of the altar, saying: Let king Solomon swear to me this day, that he will not kill his servant with the sword.


Who can say: My heart is clean, I am pure from sin?
