Then the devil led Jesus to Jerusalem and placed Him on the elevated wing of the Temple and said to Him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here,


but do not include the court on the outside of the Temple in your measurements, because it has been given to the [unconverted] Gentiles. And they will trample underfoot the holy city [i.e., Jerusalem (?); see 21:10] for forty-two months.


They came out of their graves after Jesus’ resurrection and entered the holy city [i.e., Jerusalem] where they appeared to many people.


Jesus answered him, “You would not have any authority over me unless it were given to you from above [i.e., from God]. So, the person who turned me over to you is guilty of a worse sin.”
