and there He saw a man with a deformed hand. They asked Him, “Is it permissible by the Law of Moses to heal someone on a Sabbath day?”


So, Jesus asked the teachers of the Law of Moses and the Pharisees, saying, “Is it permissible by the Law of Moses to heal people on the Sabbath day, or not?”


So, they returned [home] and prepared spices and [aromatic] oils [i.e., for embalming Jesus’ body]. Then they rested on the Sabbath day according to the [fourth] commandment. [See Ex. 20:10].


Jesus replied, “Have you not read what King David did when he and his men were hungry? [I Sam. 21:6]


And the Pharisees asked Him, “Look, why are they [i.e., Jesus’ disciples] doing what is against the Law of Moses on the Sabbath day?”


But certain Pharisees said, “Why are you doing what is against the Law of Moses on the Sabbath day?”
