For this is [real evidence of] our love for God: [It is] obeying what He commands us to do. And obeying His commands does not cause us any grief [or, unpleasantness].


So, the Scripture was fulfilled, which says [Gen. 15:6], “Abraham believed God and [so] God considered him righteous,” and he was called God’s friend.


The person who knows [what] my commandments [are] and obeys them is the one who [truly] loves me. And the person who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.”


If you love me, you will obey my commandments.


And I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who can kill your body and after that can do nothing more.


If you know these things, you will be happy if you practice them.


His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever He tells you to do.”


You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away and I am returning to you.’ If you [really] loved me, you would have been happy that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am.
