Then those who responded [by faith] to the words [spoken by Peter and the apostles] were immersed, and about three thousand persons were added to them [i.e., the apostles] on that day.


These people had disobeyed [Noah’s preaching, See II Pet. 2:5] back when God’s patience waited [for them to repent, See Gen. 6:3], during the days of Noah, when the ship was being constructed. It was by that means [i.e., the ship floating them to safety through the Flood waters] that a few persons, eight of them, were saved [from destruction] through water.


Every person must be submissive to the ruling authorities, for all authorities come from God. And the existence of authorities has been established by God.


Joseph then sent [to Canaan] for his father Jacob and all seventy-five of his relatives.


And when they had eaten sufficiently, they began lightening the ship [so it would float higher] by throwing their wheat overboard.
