35 “If your brother becomes poor and cannot maintain himself with you, you shall support him as though he were a stranger and a sojourner, and he shall live with you.

But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?


So the disciples determined, every one according to his ability, to send relief to the brothers living in Judea.


Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him.


He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn is exalted in honor.


It is well with the man who deals generously and lends; who conducts his affairs with justice.


Blessed is the one who considers the poor! In the day of trouble the Lord delivers him;


He is ever lending generously, and his children become a blessing.


Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Now it is superfluous for me to write to you about the ministry for the saints,

“You shall not charge interest on loans to your brother, interest on money, interest on food, interest on anything that is lent for interest.


Now there arose a great outcry of the people and of their wives against their Jewish brothers.


and my wrath will burn, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.


There were also those who said, “We are mortgaging our fields, our vineyards, and our houses to get grain because of the famine.”


“If I have withheld anything that the poor desired, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,
