Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience.


For we who have believed enter that rest, as he has said, “As I swore in my wrath, ‘They shall not enter my rest,’” although his works were finished from the foundation of the world.

For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.


The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.


But I, when they were sick— I wore sackcloth; I afflicted myself with fasting; I prayed with head bowed on my chest.


“Now on the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. It shall be for you a time of holy convocation, and you shall afflict yourselves and present a food offering to the Lord.


It is a Sabbath of solemn rest to you, and you shall afflict yourselves; it is a statute forever.


You shall not do any work. It is a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwelling places.
