Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.


that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.


for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound!


It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.


And Paul said, “Whether short or long, I would to God that not only you but also all who hear me this day might become such as I am—except for these chains.”


By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.


May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains,


But though we had already suffered and been shamefully treated at Philippi, as you know, we had boldness in our God to declare to you the gospel of God in the midst of much conflict.


as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death.


and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel,


I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called,


For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles—


proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.


For this reason, therefore, I have asked to see you and speak with you, since it is because of the hope of Israel that I am wearing this chain.”


But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.


A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a faithful envoy brings healing.


Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.


I appeal to you for my child, Onesimus, whose father I became in my imprisonment.


Then the tribune came up and arrested him and ordered him to be bound with two chains. He inquired who he was and what he had done.


“Cry aloud; do not hold back; lift up your voice like a trumpet; declare to my people their transgression, to the house of Jacob their sins.


But you, dress yourself for work; arise, and say to them everything that I command you. Do not be dismayed by them, lest I dismay you before them.


Behold, their heroes cry in the streets; the envoys of peace weep bitterly.


The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord after Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he took him bound in chains along with all the captives of Jerusalem and Judah who were being exiled to Babylon.


At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison—


yet for love’s sake I prefer to appeal to you—I, Paul, an old man and now a prisoner also for Christ Jesus—
