⁶ He even tried to profane the temple, but we seized him.

⁶ who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law.

⁶ He also [even] tried to desecrate and defile the temple, but we laid hands on him and would have sentenced him by our Law,

⁶ who moreover assayed to profane the temple: on whom also we laid hold:

⁶ and even tried to defile the temple. That’s when we arrested him.

⁶ And he has even been attempting to violate the temple. And having apprehended him, we wanted him to be judged according to our law.

and they did not find me disputing with anyone or stirring up a crowd, either in the temple or in the synagogues or in the city.

For you have brought these men here who are neither sacrilegious nor blasphemers of our goddess.

Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law.” The Jews said to him, “It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death.”

And as they were shouting and throwing off their cloaks and flinging dust into the air,
