These were descended from the giants in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.


What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?


Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches,


No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.


Again I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those with knowledge, but time and chance happen to them all.

And Ishbi-benob, one of the descendants of the giants, whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of bronze, and who was armed with a new sword, thought to kill David.


And when he taunted Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimei, David’s brother, struck him down.
