And Pilate seeing that he prevailed nothing, but that rather a tumult was made; taking water washed his hands before the people, saying: I am innocent of the blood of this just man; look you to it.


And they shall fight against thee and shall not prevail: for I am with thee, saith the Lord, to deliver thee.


Woe to the multitude of many people, like the multitude of the roaring sea: and the tumult of crowds, like the noise of many waters.


But Madian was humbled before the children of Israel, neither could they any more lift up their heads. But the land rested for forty years, while Gedeon presided.


And when there arose a great dissension, the tribune fearing lest Paul should be pulled in pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle.


And they heard him until this word, and then lifted up their voice, saying: Away with such an one from the earth; for it is not fit that he should live.


And the whole city was in an uproar: and the people ran together. And taking Paul, they drew him out of the temple, and immediately the doors were shut.


But the Jews, moved with envy, and taking unto them some wicked men of the vulgar sort, and making a tumult, set the city in an uproar; and besetting Jason's house, sought to bring them out unto the people.


And the people ran together against them; and the magistrates rending off their clothes, commanded them to be beaten with rods.


When thou wast mad against me, thy pride came up to my ears: therefore I will put a ring in thy nose and a bit between thy lips: and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.


Whom hast thou reproached, and whom hast thou blasphemed, and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thy eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel.


How long shall sinners, O Lord: how long shall sinners glory?


The earth is melted, and all that dwell therein: I have established the pillars thereof.


Thou hast been mad against me, and thy pride hath come up to my ears. Therefore I will put a ring in thy nose, and a bit between thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way, by which thou camest.


A Psalm for David. The Lord said to my Lord: Sit thou at my right hand: Until I make thy enemies thy footstool.
