Now after a long time the king of Egypt died. And the children of Israel groaning cried out because of the works: and their cry went up unto God from the works.


And I will put it in the hand of them that have oppressed thee and have said to thy soul: Bow down, that we may go over. And thou hast laid thy body as the ground and as a way to them that went over.


I looked about, and there was none to help: I sought, and there was none to give aid. And my own arm hath saved for me: and my indignation itself hath helped me.


And now what have I here, saith the Lord: for my people is taken away gratis? They that rule over them treat them unjustly, saith the Lord, and my name is continually blasphemed all the day long.


God, whose wrath no mall can resist, and under whom they stoop that bear up the world.


And the fruits thereof grow up for the kings, whom thou hast set over us for our sins; and they have dominion over our bodies, and over our beasts, according to their will; and we are in great tribulation.


While he was yet speaking to them, the messenger appeared who was coming to him. And he said: Behold, so great an evil is from the Lord. What shall I look for more from the Lord?


He said: Let me die with the Philistines. And when he had strongly shook the pillars, the house fell upon all the princes, and the rest of the multitude that was there. And he killed many more at his death, than he had killed before in his life.


and my spirit is in anguish within me: my heart within me is troubled.


Then the Philistines seized upon him, and forthwith pulled out his eyes; and led him bound in chains to Gaza; and shutting him up in prison made him grind.


For the Lord saw the affliction of Israel that it was exceeding bitter, and that they were consumed even to them that were shut up in prison, and the lowest persons, and that there was no one to help Israel.
