In like manner women also in decent apparel: adorning themselves with modesty and sobriety, not with plaited hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly attire,


But when thou art spoiled, what wilt though do? Though thou clothest with scarlet, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, and paintest thy eyes with stibic stone, thou shalt dress thyself out in vain: thy lovers have despised thee, they will seek thy life.


And Jehu came into Jezrahel; But Jezabel hearing of his coming in painted her face with stibic stone, and adorned her head, and looked out of a window


Take a harp, go about the city, thou harlot that hast been forgotten: sing well, sing many a song, that thou mayst be remembered.


And when Joram saw Jehu, he said: Is there peace, Jehu? And he answered: What peace? So long as the fornications of Jezabel thy mother, and her many sorceries are in their vigour.


Now the serpent was more subtle than any of the beasts of the earth which the Lord God made. And he said to the woman: Why hath God commanded you, that you should not eat of every tree of paradise?


She lieth in wait in the way as a robber, and him whom she shall see unwary, she will kill.
