A whip for a horse, and a snaffle for an ass, and a rod for the back of fools.


But he that is an adulterer, for the folly of his heart shall destroy his own soul:


The Lord hath given me a learned tongue, that I should know how to uphold by word him that is weary. He wakeneth in the morning: in the morning he wakeneth my ear, that I may hear him as a master.


Though thou shouldst bray a fool in the mortar, as when a pestle striketh upon sodden barley, his folly would not be taken from him.


There is gold, and a multitude of jewels: but the lips of knowledge are a precious vessel.


Judgments are prepared for scorners: and striking hammers for the bodies of fools.


A reproof availeth more with a wise man, than a hundred stripes with a fool.


A man rejoiceth in the sentence of his mouth: and a word in due time is best.


The lips of the wise shall disperse knowledge: the heart of fools shall be unlike.


The mouth of the just shall bring forth wisdom: the tongue of the perverse shall perish.


The lips of the just teach many: but they that are ignorant, shall die in the want of understanding.


For he spoke and they were made: he commanded and they were created.


And all gave testimony to him: and they wondered at the words of grace that proceeded from his mouth, and they said: Is not this the son of Joseph?


Immediately he followeth her as an ox led to be a victim, and as a lamb playing the wanton, and not knowing that he is drawn like a fool to bonds,


And the Lord said to Moses: Stretch forth thy hand upon the land of Egypt, unto the locust, that it come upon it, and devour every herb that is left after the hail.


The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and he that is sweet in words shall attain to greater things.
