And Josue the son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom, because Moses had laid his hands upon him. And the children of Israel obeyed him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses.


And laying his hands on his head, he repeated all things that the Lord had commanded.


And he said to them: Can we find such another man, that is full of the spirit of God?


And the Lord commanded Josue the son of Nun, and said: Take courage, and be valiant: for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I have promised, and I will be with thee.


And when Paul had imposed his hands on them, the Holy Ghost came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.


And the spirit of the Lord was in him, and he judged Israel. And he went out to fight, and the Lord delivered into his hands Chusan Rasathaim king of Syria. And he overthrew him.


Command Josue, and encourage and strengthen him. For he shall go before this people: and shall divide unto them the land which thou shalt see.


For he whom God hath sent, speaketh the words of God: for God doth not give the Spirit by measure.


Therefore the spirit of the Lord came upon Jephte, and going round Galaad, and Manasses, and Maspha of Galaad, and passing over from thence to the children of Ammon,


Of the doctrine of baptisms, and imposition of hands, and of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.


Impose not hands lightly upon any man, neither be partaker of other men's sins. Keep thyself chaste.


Neglect not the grace that is in thee, which was given thee by prophesy, with imposition of the hands of the priesthood.


Then they, fasting and praying, and imposing their hands upon them, sent them away.


These they set before the apostles; and they praying, imposed hands upon them.


Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.


And one of the servants answering, said: Behold, I have seen a son of Isai the Bethlehemite, a skilful player, and one of great strength, and a man fit for war, and prudent in his words, and a comely person. And the Lord is with him.

And Moses said to Josue: Choose out men: and go out and fight against Amalec. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill having the rod of God in my hand.


Neither is his indignation against the people to be wondered at, since the Lord was angry with me also on your account, and said: Neither shalt thou go in thither.


The Lord thy God then will pass over before thee: he will destroy all these nations in thy sight, and thou shalt possess them. And this Josue shall go over before thee, as the Lord hath spoken.


I commanded Josue also at that time, saying: Thy eyes have seen what the Lord your God hath done to these two kings. So will he do to all the kingdoms to which thou shalt pass.


And the Lord said to Moses: Behold the days of thy death are nigh: call Josue, and stand ye in the tabernacle of the testimony, that I may give him a charge. So Moses and Josue went and stood in the tabernacle of the testimony:


As we obeyed Moses in all things, so will we obey thee also: only be the Lord thy God with thee, as he was with Moses.


Of whom was born Nun, who had Josue for his son.
