And having called together the multitudes unto him, he said to them: Hear ye and understand.


And Philip running thither, heard him reading the prophet Isaias. And he said: Thinkest thou that thou understandest what thou readest?


And he said: Go, and thou shalt say to this people: Hearing, hear, and understand not: and see the vision and know it not.


O little ones, understand subtilty, and ye unwise, take notice.


To day if you shall hear his voice, harden not your hearts:


And Micheas said: If thou return in peace, the Lord hath not spoken by me. And he said: Hear, all ye people.


And Elias coming to all the people said: How long do you halt between two sides? If the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people did not answer him a word.


AND when great multitudes stood about him, so that they trod one upon another, he began to say to his disciples: Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
