4 But what have you to do with me, O Tyre, and Sidon, and all the coast of the Philistines? will you revenge yourselves on me? and if you revenge yourselves on me, I will very soon return you a recompense upon your own head.

Because of the coming of the day in which all the Philistines shall be laid waste, and Tyre and Sidon shall be destroyed, with all the rest of their helpers. For the Lord hath wasted the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Cappadocia.


As unto revenge, as it were to repay wrath to his adversaries and a reward to his enemies: he will repay the like to the islands.


For it is the day of the vengeance of the Lord, the year of recompenses of the judgment of Sion.


Seeing it is a just thing with God to repay tribulation to them that trouble you:


And falling on the ground, he heard a voice saying to him: Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?


And will not God revenge his elect who cry to him day and night: and will he have patience in their regard?


Woe to thee, Corozain, woe to thee, Bethsaida: for if in Tyre and Sidon had been wrought the miracles that have been wrought in you, they had long ago done penance in sackcloth and ashes.


Flee ye from the midst of Babylon and let every one save his own life, be not silent upon her iniquity: for it is the time of revenge from the Lord. He will render unto her what she hath deserved.


And the Lord stirred up against Joram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, who border on the Ethiopians.


And he sent messengers to the king of the children of Ammon, to say in his name: What hast thou to do with me, that thou art come against me, to waste my land?


Revenge is mine, and I will repay them in due time, that their foot may slide. The day of destruction is at hand, and the time makes haste to come.


But I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment, than for you.


Woe to thee, Corozain, woe to thee, Bethsaida. For if in Tyre and Sidon had been wrought the mighty works that have been wrought in you, they would have done penance long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.


But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgement, than for you.


Rejoice not thou, whole Philistia, that the rod of him that struck thee is broken in pieces: for out of the root of the serpent shall come forth a basilisk, and his seed shall swallow the bird.

A day of darkness, and of gloominess, a day of clouds and whirlwinds: a numerous and strong people as the morning spread upon the mountains: the like to it hath not been from the beginning, nor shall be after it even to the years of generation and generation.


At their presence the earth hath trembled, the heavens are moved: the sun and moon are darkened, and the stars have withdrawn their shining.
