To what purpose do you offer me the multitude of your victims, saith the Lord? I am full, I desire not holocausts of rams, and fat of fatlings, and blood of calves, and lambs, and buck goats.


The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Madian and Epha. All they from Saba shall come, bringing gold and frankincense and shewing forth praise to the Lord.


My enemies have spoken evils against me: when shall he die and his name perish?


He that sacrificeth an ox is as if he slew a man: he that killeth a sheep in sacrifice, as if he should brain a dog: he that offereth an oblation, as if he should offer swine's blood; he that remembereth incense, as if he should bless an idol. All these things have they chosen in their ways: and their soul is delighted in their abominations.


Saying: Take spices, of principal and chosen myrrh five hundred sicles, and of cinnamon half so much, that is, two hundred and fifty sicles; of calamus in like manner two hundred and fifty.


The sellers of Saba, and Reema, they were thy merchants: with all the best spices and precious stones and gold, which they set forth in thy market.


And as for you, O house of Israel: thus saith the Lord God: Walk ye every one after your idols and serve them. But if in this also you hear me not, but defile my holy name any more with your gifts and with your idols;


That we may know thy way upon earth: thy salvation in all nations.


And she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices a very great store, and precious stones. There was brought no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Saba gave to king Solomon.


The victims of the wicked are abominable to the Lord: the vows of the just are acceptable.


The sacrifices of the wicked are abominable, because they are offered of wickedness.


Thus saith the Lord to his people that have loved to move their feet and have not rested and have not pleased the Lord: He will now remember their iniquities and visit their sins.


When they fast, I will not hear their prayers: and if they offer holocausts and victims, I will not receive them: for I will consume them by the sword and by famine and by the pestilence.


They shall offer victims, they shall sacrifice flesh, and shall eat it, and the Lord will not receive them: now will he remember their iniquity, and will visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.


They shall not offer wine to the Lord, neither shall they please him: their sacrifices shall be like the bread of mourners: all that shall eat it shall be defiled: for their bread is life for their soul, it shall not enter into the house of the Lord.


Absalom also sent for Achitophel the Gilonite, David's counsellor, from his city Gilo. And while he was offering sacrifices, there was a strong conspiracy: and the people running together increased with Absalom.


Who is there among you, that will shut the doors, and will kindle the fire on my altar gratis? I have no pleasure in you, saith the Lord of hosts: and I will not receive a gift of your hand.
