Moab is confounded, because he is overthrown. Howl ye and cry: tell ye it in Amen, that Moab is wasted.

Thy destruction is not hidden, thy wound is grievous: all that have heard the fame of thee, have clapped their hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?

Son of man prophesy, and say: Thus saith the Lord God: Howl ye, Woe, woe to the day:

How is Sesach taken, and the renowned one of all the earth surprised? How is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations?

Therefore will I lament for Moab and I will cry out to all Moab for the men of the brick wall that mourn.

Is there no balm in Galaad? Or is no physician there? Why then is not the wound of the daughter of my people closed?

These two things shall come upon thee suddenly in one day: barrenness and widowhood. All things are come upon thee because of the multitude of thy sorceries and for the great hardness of thy enchanters.

Evil shall come upon thee: and then shalt not know the rising thereof. And calamity shall fall violently upon thee, which thou canst not keep off. Misery shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not know.
