And there came one of the seven angels, who had the seven vials, and spoke with me, saying: Come, I will shew thee the condemnation of the great harlot, who sitteth upon many waters,


And he said to me: The waters which thou sawest, where the harlot sitteth, are peoples, and nations, and tongues.


And I will give thee hidden treasures and the concealed riches of secret places: that thou mayest know that I am the Lord who call thee by thy name, the God of Israel.


Therefore thus saith the Lord: Behold, I will judge thy cause and will take vengeance for thee, and I will make her sea desolate and will dry up her spring.


He said to Noe: The end of all flesh is come before me; the earth is filled with iniquity through them; and I will destroy them with the earth.


And they cast dust upon their heads, and cried, weeping and mourning, saying: Alas! alas! that great city, wherein all were made rich, that had ships at sea, by reason of her prices: for in one hour she is made desolate.


And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you. Whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their perdition slumbereth not.


But the end of all is at hand. Be prudent therefore, and watch in prayers.


And he said: What seest thou, Amos? And I said: A hook to draw down fruit. And the Lord said to me: The end is come upon my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more.


Sade. Our steps have slipped in the way of our streets, our end draweth near: our days are fulfilled, for our end is come.


A sword upon their horses and upon their chariots and upon all the people that are in the midst of her, and they shall become as women. A sword upon her treasures, and they shall be made a spoil.


Behold, I come against thee, O proud one, saith the Lord, the God of hosts: for thy day is come, the time of thy visitation.


Destroy all her valiant men, let them go down to the slaughter. Woe to them, for their day is come, the time of their visitation.


As the partridge hath hatched eggs which she did not lay: so is he that hath gathered riches, and not by right. In the midst of his days he shall leave them: and in his latter end he shall be a fool.


Thus saith the Lord your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: For your sake I sent to Babylon; and have brought down all their bars and the Chaldeans glorying in their ships.


For the iniquity of his covetousness I was angry: and I struck him. I hid my face from thee and was angry: and he went away wandering in his own heart.


For David himself. I will praise thee, O lord, with my whole heart: for thou hast heard the words of my mouth. I will sing praise to thee in the sight of his angels:
