Thy princes are faithless, companions of thieves: they all love bribes, the run after rewards. They judge not for the fatherless: and the widow's cometh not in to them.

The beloved grew fat, and kicked: he grew fat, and thick and gross. He forsook God who made him: and departed from God his saviour.

But God is our king before ages: he hath wrought salvation in the midst of the earth.

If you oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, and walk not after strange gods to your own hurt:

IT is absolutely heard, that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as the like is not among the heathens; that one should have his father's wife.

Hear this word, ye fat kine that are in the mountains of Samaria: you that oppress the needy, and crush the poor: that say to your masters: Bring, and we will drink.

Thou indeed, O Lord, art just, if I plead with thee, but yet I will speak what is just to thee: Why doth the way of the wicked prosper? Why is it well with all them that transgress and do wickedly?

Why dost thou endeavor to shew thy way good to seek my love, thou who has also taught thy malices to be thy ways,

For there is no regard to their death, nor is there strength in their stripes.

The tabernacles of robbers abound, and they provoke God boldly; whereas it is he that hath given all into their hands.

Thus saith the Lord: Execute judgement and justice: and deliver him that is oppressed out of the hand of the oppressor: and afflict not the stranger, the fatherless and the widow, nor oppress them unjustly: and shed not innocent blood in this place.

And they that hate thee have made their boasts, in the midst of thy solemnity. They have set up their ensigns for signs,

The Lord will destroy the house of the proud: and will strengthen the borders of the widow.
